The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the current spell could be one of the most severe in recent years, with conditions expected to persist over the coming days.
According to the IMD, maximum temperatures in parts of Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal have crossed 45°C, creating life-threatening conditions, particularly for vulnerable populations. In several districts, night temperatures have also remained unusually high, offering little relief even after sunset.
