India celebrated as Rohit Sharma and his team won the Champions Trophy, defeating New Zealand in Dubai for their first ICC 50-over title in 12 years.

The March 9 final set a record on JioHotstar with over 6.1 crore concurrent viewers, surpassing the previous high of 5.9 crore from the ICC World Cup 2023.

The finale garnered over 90 crore views, significantly exceeding the 60 crore views from the India-Pakistan match earlier in the tournament. New Zealand, having won the toss, opted to bat first as India chased a target of 252 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja knew he had secured victory the moment he struck the ball. Filled with joy after hitting the winning runs, he accidentally bumped into New Zealand bowler William O’Rourke. Nevertheless, there were no hard feelings regarding the encounter.

KL Rahul, demonstrating remarkable composure under pressure, lifted his arms in celebration. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh were the first to dash onto the field, soon joined by Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar, as the senior players rejoiced alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir just outside the dressing room.
