Rising Numbers: India Records 276 New Covid Cases in a Day; Delhi and Gujarat Reflect Growing Concerns

India’s current active Covid cases have increased to 4,302, with seven new fatalities reported within a single day. Health officials have released new guidelines and mandated mock drills in hospitals across the country.

On Wednesday, India saw an increase of 276 active Covid cases, bringing the total to 4,302, as per the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the last 24 hours, seven deaths were noted, with Maharashtra reporting four of those. Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Gujarat each recorded one death, raising the total to 44.
Gujarat and Delhi experienced the largest daily increase, each with 64 new cases, followed closely by Uttar Pradesh with 63 and West Bengal with 60. Kerala remains the state with the highest number of active cases, followed by Maharashtra (510), Gujarat (461), and Delhi (457). Notably, Arunachal Pradesh has yet to report any Covid cases.
In response to the increasing Covid cases, Dr. Arindam Biswas from Kolkata remarked, “Covid is here to stay. The number of cases will fluctuate over time, but there is no cause for alarm. The key is to prevent its transmission. It is essential for individuals to adhere to government guidelines and wear masks to ensure their safety.”
