PM Narendra Modi spoke about AI at the AI Action Summit in Paris, co-chaired by French president Emmanuel Macron. He discussed how it develops, governs, and the need for people to be skillful and reskilled.
In his remarks, the prime minister addressed AI’s “most feared disruption”.
AI, however, will not eliminate jobs, according to him. “History has shown that work does not disappear due to technology, it’s nature changes. New types of jobs are created,” said Modi at the Paris AI Summit. “We need to invest in skilling and reskilling our people for an AI-driven future,” he adds.
The dataset on which AI is trained brings many biases. The remarkable potential of AI is indeed impressive; however, it is crucial to consider the various biases that may exist, he remarked. “It is essential to develop high-quality datasets that are devoid of biases. We should strive to democratize technology and focus on creating applications that prioritize the needs of individuals,” he proposed.
Modi highlighted AI’s transformative impact on politics, economics, security, and society, stating it is shaping humanity’s narrative this century. He emphasized the need for a coordinated global initiative to regulate AI, advocating for collaborative governance frameworks that reflect shared values, mitigate risks, and build trust among nations.
