NASA’s first female administrator appointed Janet Petro

Published:

With her appointment as NASA’s acting administrator, Janet Petro has made history as the agency’s first female leader. After Bill Nelson resigned, the director of the Kennedy Space Center made this announcement.

Petro said she was grateful for the chance to serve in this role in a statement posted on LinkedIn. “I am honored and humbled to serve as NASA’s acting administrator during this time of transition. We will provide more information about NASA’s priorities under the Trump Administration in the coming days,” she said.

“NASA will continue to support and align with the policies established by the new administration while remaining true to the core values that will guide the agency,” she said.
