It is important to note that this year, the second Friday of Ramadan and Holi coincide on the same date. The Muslim community observes Friday prayers and fasts, while Hindus celebrate the festival of colors.
It is essential that both communities maintain unity and respect each other during the celebration, according to Lucknow’s Shahi Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali.
In anticipation of Holi next Friday, Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali of Lucknow Eidgah has advised Muslims to pray at local mosques instead of traveling far. He announced that mosques usually holding Juma prayers between 12:30 PM and 1 PM may reschedule to 2 PM due to the second Juma of Ramzan coinciding with Holi on March 14. The Juma prayer at Jama Masjid Eidgah will be at 2 PM, changed from 12:45 PM.
In Bareilly, Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi recommended that Imams in mixed-population areas set Friday prayers for Holi at 2:30 PM, while those in predominantly Muslim areas can keep the original time. He urged caution for Muslims outdoors, advising limited exposure to 3-4 hours and promoting patience during Ramzan.
