Captain Priyanka Ingle led the charge, and a standout performance by Chaithra in Turn 4 solidified their win. India’s path to the championship included victories over South Korea, Iran, and Malaysia, followed by wins against Bangladesh and South Africa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the women’s team, highlighting their role in reviving interest in traditional sports.
The men’s team also excelled, defeating Nepal 54-36. Captain Pratik Waikar and key player Ramji Kashyap propelled India to a strong start, and their defense held firm against Nepal’s efforts. This marked a historic achievement for India in the Kho Kho World Cup.
