On Sunday, the Congress party criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his podcast with Lex Fridman, highlighting his reluctance to hold press conferences while engaging comfortably with a US podcaster. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accused Modi of undermining accountability institutions and targeting critics, despite his claim that “criticism is the soul of democracy.” Ramesh remarked on the hypocrisy of Modi’s statements given his actions.
In the podcast, PM Modi discussed his childhood, the influence of Swami Vivekananda, the RSS, and various geopolitical matters. He urged Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to pursue peace and compared his “India First” approach to Donald Trump’s “America First” philosophy, both emphasizing national interests. Modi also expressed gratitude for finding his life’s purpose and the values of selfless service through the RSS, which he considers the spiritual foundation of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
