Delhi’s chief minister, Rekha Gupta has been sworn in with six ministers in her cabinet.

Rekha Gupta, the newly elected MLA from Shalimar Bagh representing the BJP, was inaugurated as Delhi’s fourth female chief minister at a ceremony at Ramlila Ground on Thursday. This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, winning 48 out of 70 assembly seats.

Alongside her, several BJP MLAs were sworn in as ministers. In her address, Gupta announced that the first installment of ₹2,500 per month for women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana will be deposited by March 8.

The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Modi and other notable figures, began at 11 am and concluded by 1 pm, with the oath administered by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. To ensure security, over 25,000 personnel and 15 paramilitary units were deployed across Delhi, with commandos and snipers positioned at key locations.
