SpiceJet Ltd announced plans to reintroduce its first ungrounded Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on January 29, 2025, after several months of being grounded. This move is part of the airline’s strategy to enhance its fleet, supported by service agreements with StandardAero Inc. and CFM International Inc. SpiceJet aims to return 10 aircraft, including four 737 MAX planes, to service by mid-April 2025, enabling it to serve high-demand routes like Jeddah and Riyadh more efficiently.
Chairman Ajay Singh highlighted the significance of this achievement and the airline’s commitment to operational improvement and sustainable growth. Since October 2024, SpiceJet has added 10 aircraft to its fleet. Following the announcement, SpiceJet’s shares rose by 6.91% to Rs 46.90.
