SSY to NSC as PM Modi hails India’s daughters
On National Girl Child Day 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the significant achievements of Indian daughters and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing a diverse array of opportunities for them.
National Girl Child Day is observed annually on January 24, serving as a platform to promote awareness regarding the rights of girls and to ensure they receive equal opportunities and support.
The celebration of National Girl Child Day 2025 is spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This day, marked on January 24 each year, aims to enhance awareness about the empowerment of girls and to foster an environment conducive to their growth and development.
The significance of financial empowerment cannot be overstated in the context of empowering daughters. To support this, various specialized investment schemes have been introduced for the girl child. Parents are encouraged to invest in these schemes in their daughter’s name, which offer benefits such as higher interest rates and tax advantages.
Among the leading investment options for the girl child are the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, National Savings Certificate (NSC), Unit Linked Insurance Plans (ULIPs), and Children Gift Mutual Funds.
