India is preparing to host the QUAD Summit, which will involve leaders from Australia, Japan, and the United States. This event may occur as soon as April or possibly in the fall of this year. During his election campaign, Trump had indicated a willingness to impose additional tariffs on China, and he is also set to visit Beijing to work towards mending a relationship with Xi Jinping that has been tested by these tariff threats, as a financial publication reports.

Just a day prior, Trump engaged in a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing the phone call as “very good.” For Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, China will be represented by Vice-President Han Zheng, marking the first attendance by a senior Chinese official at a U.S. presidential inauguration.

For the next round of the Quad Summit, India expects the incoming US President, Donald Trump, who will be sworn in on Monday, to visit the country early. India is also expecting a huge push on bilateral trade that will result in tariffs being imposed on Indian goods.
