India Rising: The Next Economic Titan by 2027! Morgan Stanley has drawn an interesting analogy of India with where China was positioned in the year 2007 i.e. a full 15 years ago.
Piyush Goyal, minister of commerce and industry, announced on Tuesday that India will surpass Germany and Japan as the world’s third-largest economy by 2027.
Speaking at the Tamil magazine ‘Thuglak’ annual meeting here, Goyal asked, “What has Mr. Modi accomplished in the past decade? Under his leadership, India’s GDP rose from the eleventh to the fifth largest.
The minister added that in his 2014 interim budget, then-Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had projected that India’s nominal GDP would rise to third place in the next three decades, behind the United States and China.
He pointed out that Chidambaram had forecast in 2014 that India’s GDP would rise to the third-largest in 30 years.
