A Fragile Peace? No Conflict Reported in Kashmir as Ceasefire Holds!

BJP Calls for Clarity: ‘This Pause Isn’t an Agreement’ Amid Kashmir’s Calm!

As normal activities resume, people are commuting again a day after India and Pakistan reached a bilateral agreement in Jammu on May 11, 2025.

Following three days of intense military conflict, the two nations came to an ‘understanding’ to halt ‘military action’ and ‘firing,’ as announced by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

However, shortly after the announcement of the ceasefire on Saturday evening, reports of cross-border firing from Pakistan emerged at various points along the Jammu border, according to a Border Security Force (BSF) official.

The official stated, ‘There was heavy firing until 7:30 p.m., and a proportional response was being executed.’

Fragile Silence: Foreign Secretary Misri Flags Pakistani Violations Post-Ceasefire

Following the ceasefire agreement aimed at halting military actions, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri urged Pakistan late Saturday to tackle the ongoing violations along India’s northern and western borders.

Breach of agreement :

Just hours after the pact was made, reports of explosions and gunfire emerged from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his shock on X, stating, ‘What just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions are being heard all over Srinagar!!!’ In the midst of these violations, several cities in Punjab, including Amritsar, Ferozepur, Barnala, Pathankot, Bathinda, and Sangrur, experienced enforced blackouts throughout Saturday night. Some local administrations are labeling these as a ‘precautionary measure.’ Meanwhile, in Kutch, Gujarat, the Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, declared a total blackout, citing the sighting of ‘multiple drones’ and urging caution.

This plea came shortly after both nations agreed to a ceasefire with ‘immediate effect’. Misri emphasized that the Indian armed forces remain vigilant and are prepared to respond appropriately to any breaches of this understanding.

On Saturday night, multiple explosions and sirens were reported in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Anantnag, as well as in Barmer (Rajasthan) and Kutch (Gujarat).
